My mother was operated on for cancer for the first time in the late 1950s. My sister and I had not entered elementary school. We were very young children. I vaguely remember a discussion about the operation in the family car. We were told that instruments would be used. The only instruments I knew about at the time were musical instruments. I vaguely remember asking how various types of musical instruments could be used in an operation!
Back in the late 1950s and early 1960s, children were not allowed to visit in hospital rooms unless they were patients. I have wished for years that I could have visited my mother in the hospital room – even for a few minutes. Perhaps professionals in various fields would disagree with my opinion,
I hope and pray all goes well with Sara’s surgery next week. I hope and pray the surgery and post-op treatment will lead to complete healing. May the Lord watch over your entire family at this time.
